Is Your Brain Being Plasticized?

Category : BPA , Diseases , News , Sleep

Every year, companies in the US produce 100 billion pounds of plastic for the packaging of the food products The toxic substance–bisphenol A (BPA) is called the “plasticizer”,  is included in the plastic, making it flexible and less brittle. BPA is used in plastic bottles containing drinks, sodas, fruit juices and most frequently bottled waters, but also is found in many types of food containers. This chemical does make its way into the drink or food the container holds, and from there, into our bodies.

BPA has been a concern for those who worry about cancer risk; but it appears it may increase the risk of dementia as well. The bad new is, there is a steady stream of research showing that the BPA we are consuming makes problematic changes on the cellular level that can alter the brain operation. It’s best to avoid this chemical wherever possible. We are practically saturated by BPA because it is so widely used, lining the cans of soups, beer and soft drinks. It is also used in the receipts we receive at the grocery store checkout. Also, polycarbonate water pipes, some medical devices, eyeglasses, compact discs and dental sealants. The CDC says that more than 90 percent of us have BPA in our bodies. The highest level has been found in children. There are tests you can get to show what the levels are.

The chemical BPA shrinks the brain’s prefrontal cortex, creating damage to these neurons and synapses resulting in shorter attention span; making it harder to do mental work which constitutes switching one’s focus from one task to another. It also interferes with the communication and language areas of the brain, ruining spatial memory which affects the ability to remember where things are. Causing oxidative stress to the hippocampus, an important center for memory. Also expanding harmful brain inflammation by causing microglia immune cells to wander within the brain, which will harm neurons.Let’s not be deceived by the “BPA-Free” logo. Many companies will use BPS and BPF as substitutes, which researchers have found can be just as harmful to the body and brain–and maybe even worse.

Our Body’s Inner Powerhouse

Category : Allergies , Arthritis , BPA , Diseases , News

My family of readers,

The liver is the heaviest and largest organ in our body and  it is capable of handling more than five hundred functions for your body; if it’s kept healthy. In fact, every drop of blood filters through your liver every three minutes and there are 65,000 known enzymatic reactions that occur during that process. Your liver processes everything you consume.
An impaired liver can exhibit symptoms of disease such as digestive disorders, constipation, fatigue, food sensitivities and allergies, hay fever, infertility, arthritis, hormone imbalance, diabetes, obesity, blood sugar issues, cholesterol problems, blood pressure, and hypertension, as well as others.
Some of the functions of the liver include:
Aids in the digestive process; Controls the bile production; Regulates the storage of fats; Processes enzymes and nutrients; Manufactures glycogen (thus helping to stabilize the blood sugar levels); Controls production and secretion of cholesterol; Maintains hormone balance; Detoxifies toxins and poisons from the blood; Synthesizes our medications and processes and purifies drug residues; Discharges wastes; Metabolizes alcohol;  Manages the chemicals in the blood; It associates and assists with the immune system functions;  Removes bacteria and general foreign particles from the blood; It is a reservoir for the fat soluble vitamins and some minerals such as iron and copper; Manufactures, stores and recycles proteins, also synthesizes blood-clotting proteins and proteins for fluid part of the blood (plasma); Recycles the red blood cells by breaking them down and their constituents are reused. The liver is responsible for regenerating its own damaged tissues even if 90% of it has been removed; it will grow back to normal size if there isn’t any disorder that can weaken the organ itself. So it is very important to keep your body’d powerhouse healthy and clean so it can detox and function, thus allowing our body’s systems to work together. Too much protein, sugars, simple carbs and enzyme deficient foods in our diets are a burden. Overeating burdens the liver. Alcohol causes inflammation to the liver, as too many toxins and not enough exercise distress its functions. Balance is crucial. Be kind to our bodies, clean up our environment of toxins and plastics (which have BPA) read: The Dangers of BPA. Clean up ur bodies by eating the best foods; non-GMO’s and Organic only.

For our best health,
Marie

The Dangers of BPA

Category : BPA , News

My Dear Readers,

Bisphenol A (BPA)/Bisphenol S (BPS) are industrial chemicals that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960’s. BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. These polycarbonate plastics are often used in containers that store food, beverages, and ie. plastic water bottles. The BPA chemicals leach their toxins into the foods stored in them. Some dental sealants and composites may also contain BPA. BPS is alternative chemical used in the place of BPA, but may be just as dangerous to the human body. These chemicals do not leave the body easily…it does it’s damage first.
BPA/BPS are an endocrine disrupters which means that they mimic or interfere with your body’s hormones and disrupts your endocrine system. The glands of your endocrine system and hormones that they release are instrumental in regulating mood, growth and development, tissue function, metabolism as well as sexual function and reproductive processes. BPA can behave a similar way to estrogen and other hormones of the human body. High doses of BPA can cause infertility and other health issues. Everyday use of BPA, damages brain cells, affects mood and memory, learning abilities as well as depression. It is important that Alzheimer’s patients and persons who have  ADHD should not be drinking their water or eating any foods from plastic containers or cans that are not BPA free due to the excess chemical toxicity in these containers, use glass or food grade stainless steel. This chemical is especially damaging the growing bodies of young children. BPA baby bottles were banned in 2012, and the manufactures are now using Bisphenol S (BPS) and other chemicals. Recent studies are showing that this new approach is just as bad if not worse than the original. 80% of Americans have detectable levels of BPS in their urine.
The FDA continues to support the use of BPA in current food packaging because they claim the amount that leaches into the food and beverages is small. The thing is…a poison is still a poison no matter what the amount. BPA can be detected in the urine of 93% of Americans. The typical Standard American Diet includes canned  and packaged goods, frozen plastic containers ready to microwave, BPA plastic water and beverage bottles. NEVER microwave in ANY plastic container! Even when not heated baby bottles and plastic bottles leach their chemicals into the water we drink.  The highest concentration of BPA is found in canned soups, pasta, tomato products and infant formulas.
It’s almost impossible to avoid BPA contact because in addition to being in most packaged food items it is an environmental contaminant. It is even in the cash register reciepts.  Even when buying and using glass jars and bottles the hiding spots are the lids of glass jars; baby foods, jelly, pickles, salsa and other condiments. Other places are aerosol cans for whipping cream and non-stick sprays, bottles and tins of cooking oil, aluminum beverage cans, metal coffee cans, and beer kegs. BPA at levels found in the American diet have triggered symptoms of IBS, commonly seen in ulcerative colitis and possibly Crohn’s disease symptoms. Studies have also found that BPA lowers Vitamin D levels in the bloodstream…also disrupting normal reproductive and thyroid function.
Plastics of Polystyrene (#6) known as Styrofoam to make cups, plates, bowls, and takeout containers, meat trays etc. Polystyrene is known to leach styrene into your food, which can damage your nervous system and is linked to cancer. Temperature has been found to play a role in how much styrene leaches from polystyrene containers, which means using them for hot foods and beverages (coffee) may be the worst of all.

Symptoms, warning signs of BPA toxicity:

*You are overweight…Historically, the concept of obesity was one of “calories in, calories out”. It is now due to the high intake of chemicals within the body from the foods we eat and the containers they come in.
*Early puberty. BPA disrupts our hormones.
*Erectile dysfunction
*Your blood pressure is too high.
*You have ADHD.
*You have heart disease.
*You have prostate cancer.
*IBS symptoms/leaky gut.

The numbers on the plastic containers and what they mean:
1.  PET or PETE (Polyethylene terephthalate)
2.  HDPE (High-density polyethylene)
3.  PVC (Polyvinyl chloride)
4.  LDPE (lLo-denisity polyethylene)
5.  PP (Polypropylene)
6.  PS (Polystyrene) Styrofoam
7.  PLA (polycarbonate plastic) the worst one.

The ones that may be used, somewhat safe: 1,2,4 and 5. Not to be used at all: 3,6,and 7. We need to avoid all chemicals from our diets, they are worse than the plagues for we being Poisoned To Death.
