Banana Tea

Category : Beverages , Recipes

Banana Tea:
Take a firm, but not green banana, (don’t use too ripe/soft ones because there is more sugar in them which may interfere with the sleep cycle, save those for your Banana Ice Cream.) wash, cut off the ends and cut it in half (leaving the peel on). Put it into a pot with 2-3 cups (1-1 1/2 cups per person) of filtered boiling water. Boil for 5-7 minutes. Pour into your mug, discarding the banana pieces. The tea has a very mild banana flavor with so much magnesium. (You may add a 1-2 teaspoons of Organic Coconut Oil to the tea if desired). Relax and sip your tea 60-90 minutes before bedtime to help promote sleep. If you like bananas, it’s delicious, and it has so much magnesium which will allow your muscles to relax so you can sleep. (There is three times more magnesium in the peel than in the fruit.)

I tried this and it really worked.  Each person drinking this may experience different reactions times, each application may be unique to the individual. I would appreciate it if others would try this tea, especially those who are insomniac and let me hear your comments and experiences below.  (click the recipe title to bring up the comment link) The tea itself looks like slightly foggy water, (so no picture with this recipe).

Sleep tight!

Restore Brain Health And Nerve Function

Category : Brain Function , Diseases , News , Sleep

Dear Readers,

These Are Just Some Suggestions: to use to help restore cognitive impairment; read under Resources for others.

Stress Less:
Breathe Slow
Meditate Daily
Enjoy Nature
Exercise Daily
Prayer and Faith
Practice Gratitude

Exercise in Bursts:
Daily exercise makes your brain bigger (Dementia shrinks it as well as processed foods). You want a bigger brain, which inspires growth of new brain cells and connections. Exercise keeps your brain happy and promotes better sleep. It keeps away depression. (Daily exercise supervised to start off)
*Do breathing exercises, daily see breathing exercises.
*Walking/sprinting in place…start slow work up JUST KEEP MOVING. Allow the blood to flow to your brain.
*Walk in place (hold chair for balance if needed), speed it up slow it down. The fast/slow rhythm will enhance your lungs, heart and brain.
*Later goal is for the balancing exercises. Hold solid chair back lightly, stand on one foot, then the other, alternating, do for 1-2 minutes. each week can increase the time as the body conforms.
*Not only exercising your body but your brain as well…learning NEW things stimulates the brain cells into growing new ones. These exercises are for beginners and keep moving.

Reduce Inflammation:
The brain and neurological tissues are extremely sensitive regions of the body and are highly susceptible to infection and inflammation. One of the ways our body protects itself from threats of infection is through the immune process called inflammation, but if there is too much inflammation going on it can damage the neurological tissue and cause problems.
Food is a big contributor to inflammation. Inflammatory foods include, dairy, sugars, refined grains, grain-fed meat, bad fats, such as corn, unfermented soy, canola oil, hydrogenated oils, all oils that are used for frying. Fried foods are a culprit for inflammation in the body. The closer you stay to a whole-foods diet the less inflammation you will have..Organic foods only, avoiding GMO (genetically modified organisms). Organic Omega 3 fatty acids, Organic Hemp Oil, MCT Oil, and Organic Coconut Oil, help reduce inflammation.Wash all fruits and veggies in the sink with a tsp. of baking soda to decontaminate the chemical residues.

Clean filtered water:
Hydration is critical…it washes out toxins and waste products. Our cells are working hard all day long and water is the way these cells won’t get gummed up, and fail to eliminate their waste products. It keeps are body running smoothly and efficiently. The brain will also get soft and shrinks if it’s not sufficiently hydrated. If we don’t get enough fluid moving through the body everything starts to back up and the body is becoming literally poisoned. Hydration with healthy water is the best. Tap water and water in plastic bottles are not the best; the bottled water sits in the chemical ladened plastic for weeks or even months. The best water is fresh water that is distilled or second best, cleaned with activated charcoal preferably in your own home, and stored in glass.

Benefits of Fasting:
Last meal of the day 3 hours before bedtime because it helps the process of melatonin and sleep. Breakfast will be at least 12 hours from the last meal from the night before to help the body’s immune senescence to happen. It allows the body to purge itself of some of those old cells, so the immune system can create new ones. The circadian cycles of the body are at work during the hours of  ‘fasting’ to allow the body to metabolize and eliminate the processes of the foods last eaten. It helps keep the immune system healthy. Drinking more water during these periods especially when rising in the morning helps the cleansing process.

Supplements Suggestions:
*Nature’s Way MCT Oil…starting at 1 tsp/day with food mid day, work up to in combination with coconut oil to 3 Tbl./day
*Organic Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil (see above)
*Enzymedica Digest Enzymes take just before eating ANY/ALL cooked foods. Take at the beginning of the meal that will contain cooked foods.
*Vitamin B-12, B-6, Folic Acid. and Vitamin D-3/one capsule, each once a day with lunch.
*DHA/EPA Fish oil capsules or DHA Vegetarian Algae 2 per day with dinner.

Truthfully Caring,
Marie

Sleepy Time Tips

Category : News , Sleep

Dear Friends and Readers,

Daily exercise helps to keep the body in hormonal balance. Melatonin is a hormone that promotes sleep, and to relieve stress and depression. Doing vigorous exercise early in the day and mild stretching before bedtime will help to fall asleep and stay asleep all night.

Hydrate well during the day to keep your brain alert and body cleansed. You can slow down your drinking your fluids after dinner so you won’t interrupt your sleep by getting up to go to the bathroom.

Make sure that you have your last food intake at least three hours before bedtime, so your body and brain will be able to rest; repairing itself and converting new information in the brain. and not to be disrupted by the digestive process.

After dinner, dishes done, kitchen cleaned; now get yourself ready for bed. It is now the power-down-hour, 20 minutes for hygiene, brush teeth and other bedtime rituals, then RELAX. Turn off the computers, and other electronic devices, for these disrupt brain function for sleeping. Keep the lights low and allow your melatonin levels to rise naturally. Meditate, drink your banana tea, keep the conversations at a calm level, nothing stimulating.

It is best to go to bed earlier, say 8-9:00 while the melatonin levels are up, so you can get your 8 hours of sleep before these levels drop. We do need at least 8-9 hours of good sleep a night for optimal health and proper body and brain functioning. Retrain and go to bed earlier, 10 minutes or so for several nights until you reach a healthier bedtime. When the light/sunlight appears the melatonin will decrease and your body is ready to get up or you will feel groggy.

When you retire to sleep for the night, make sure all lights are covered, keep your room as dark as possible, otherwise the lights will decrease your melatonin levels. Have the room temperature kept cool 60-68 degrees rather than warm so you can sleep comfortably. If you do open the window but need to keep the noise level down, use foam earplugs to have a quiet sleep.

Alcohol, caffeine, and some drugs interrupt your REM sleep, and so do the sleeping pills, please refrain from these drugs if you want to have a good night sleep. I have taken to include one tablespoon of MCT Oil (medium chain triglycerides which has 60% coconut oil) at lunch. I found that I sleep great at night and dream a lot…so I know I am sleeping when I dream. Sugars are a brain stimulant and also hinders the proper function of the sleep hormones so best to avoid them.

Pleasant Dreams!
Marie

GMO’s

Category : Allergies , News

My dear readers,

I have been telling you all as I have go through my health journey that I keep experimenting (with me) throughout the healing process. My book: From Birth Until Sunset…Poisoned To Death explains some of these things along my journey. I have to look at the whole process as a lot of Lessons For Life, to help me along the way as well as helping all of my readers, who are also searching for answers. I have had pitfalls and valleys as well as mountain high experiments. I started this year’s journey trying to find out why even though I had been on a whole food plant-based diet that I was still having pain issues. (Read the article on Excessive Protein Problems on this webpage.) Well, I came to another fork in the road.

I would like to share with you my weekend health experience. I still struggle with my food addictions, and when I give into them they always get me in trouble. Well, Friday night we went out to dinner to an Italian Restaurant and ate the small Bruschetta appetizer and one other piece of bread along with my dinner. That night I woke up three hours after going to sleep, all of my joints were throbbing with pain that wouldn’t stop.  Sleep was non-existent after that since I couldn’t get comfortable. I prayed to God for help and I might’ve gotten an hour more of sleep at the most out of exhaustion. I can oftentimes learn from ‘painful’ experiences. That afternoon we had a dinner party to go and was to bring a pasta salad and a tossed salad. After last nights ‘trauma’, I opted out and decided to bring the Sweet and Sour Rainbow Coleslaw(on Recipes Section) instead. Lo and behold, Saturday night I slept pain free and never woke up once. I felt like the windows and doors to Heaven opened up on me, and God’s message was “Do you have it now?” I had to say “yes I got it, thank-you!” I now cannot deny His mercy and continue to eat these foods, for I would take His gift (wisdom) and throw it back to Him. I did ask for Him more non-grain recipes as He continues to help me with my food addictions. I AM powerless! I had allergy testing about a month ago and they told me I did not have any allergies to wheat, oats, corn etc., but I have some reactions to these grains and obviously wheat being the worst. At this same time my studies and research has led me to the GMO’s. (Read ‘Why Are There So Many Wheat Allergies’article on this webpage) According to health experts all wheat now is GMO’ed and Roundup ready in this country and many parts of the world, and non-organic oats and corn are also GMO’s. The unfortunate part is that our atmosphere is so saturated with these chemicals that it there isn’t any guarantees that our organic grains will be free of these substances or not. These chemicals are in all of our foods. I figured out because of the grain farming practices I may not be allergic to wheat, but to the chemicals on the Roundup ready and GMO’ed wheat. My body is sensitive to toxins and I can truthfully vouch that these breads and grains are tainted and destructive. Any foods that we eat should be buy organic only, it’s safer! I am studying the GMO issues at this time and will continue to give you more updates as I get them. Keep checking back on this webpage for that information. We are in all of this together.

The Dangers of BPA

Category : BPA , News

My Dear Readers,

Bisphenol A (BPA)/Bisphenol S (BPS) are industrial chemicals that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960’s. BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. These polycarbonate plastics are often used in containers that store food, beverages, and ie. plastic water bottles. The BPA chemicals leach their toxins into the foods stored in them. Some dental sealants and composites may also contain BPA. BPS is alternative chemical used in the place of BPA, but may be just as dangerous to the human body. These chemicals do not leave the body easily…it does it’s damage first.
BPA/BPS are an endocrine disrupters which means that they mimic or interfere with your body’s hormones and disrupts your endocrine system. The glands of your endocrine system and hormones that they release are instrumental in regulating mood, growth and development, tissue function, metabolism as well as sexual function and reproductive processes. BPA can behave a similar way to estrogen and other hormones of the human body. High doses of BPA can cause infertility and other health issues. Everyday use of BPA, damages brain cells, affects mood and memory, learning abilities as well as depression. It is important that Alzheimer’s patients and persons who have  ADHD should not be drinking their water or eating any foods from plastic containers or cans that are not BPA free due to the excess chemical toxicity in these containers, use glass or food grade stainless steel. This chemical is especially damaging the growing bodies of young children. BPA baby bottles were banned in 2012, and the manufactures are now using Bisphenol S (BPS) and other chemicals. Recent studies are showing that this new approach is just as bad if not worse than the original. 80% of Americans have detectable levels of BPS in their urine.
The FDA continues to support the use of BPA in current food packaging because they claim the amount that leaches into the food and beverages is small. The thing is…a poison is still a poison no matter what the amount. BPA can be detected in the urine of 93% of Americans. The typical Standard American Diet includes canned  and packaged goods, frozen plastic containers ready to microwave, BPA plastic water and beverage bottles. NEVER microwave in ANY plastic container! Even when not heated baby bottles and plastic bottles leach their chemicals into the water we drink.  The highest concentration of BPA is found in canned soups, pasta, tomato products and infant formulas.
It’s almost impossible to avoid BPA contact because in addition to being in most packaged food items it is an environmental contaminant. It is even in the cash register reciepts.  Even when buying and using glass jars and bottles the hiding spots are the lids of glass jars; baby foods, jelly, pickles, salsa and other condiments. Other places are aerosol cans for whipping cream and non-stick sprays, bottles and tins of cooking oil, aluminum beverage cans, metal coffee cans, and beer kegs. BPA at levels found in the American diet have triggered symptoms of IBS, commonly seen in ulcerative colitis and possibly Crohn’s disease symptoms. Studies have also found that BPA lowers Vitamin D levels in the bloodstream…also disrupting normal reproductive and thyroid function.
Plastics of Polystyrene (#6) known as Styrofoam to make cups, plates, bowls, and takeout containers, meat trays etc. Polystyrene is known to leach styrene into your food, which can damage your nervous system and is linked to cancer. Temperature has been found to play a role in how much styrene leaches from polystyrene containers, which means using them for hot foods and beverages (coffee) may be the worst of all.

Symptoms, warning signs of BPA toxicity:

*You are overweight…Historically, the concept of obesity was one of “calories in, calories out”. It is now due to the high intake of chemicals within the body from the foods we eat and the containers they come in.
*Early puberty. BPA disrupts our hormones.
*Erectile dysfunction
*Your blood pressure is too high.
*You have ADHD.
*You have heart disease.
*You have prostate cancer.
*IBS symptoms/leaky gut.

The numbers on the plastic containers and what they mean:
1.  PET or PETE (Polyethylene terephthalate)
2.  HDPE (High-density polyethylene)
3.  PVC (Polyvinyl chloride)
4.  LDPE (lLo-denisity polyethylene)
5.  PP (Polypropylene)
6.  PS (Polystyrene) Styrofoam
7.  PLA (polycarbonate plastic) the worst one.

The ones that may be used, somewhat safe: 1,2,4 and 5. Not to be used at all: 3,6,and 7. We need to avoid all chemicals from our diets, they are worse than the plagues for we being Poisoned To Death.
